Synopsis

Film Screening @ Upstairs

13-18May 12noon-6pm

Fringe Club is pleased to present “Leaving traces: KNITerature – the art of Movana Chen”, a documentation of the artist’s works and her recent solo exhibition.

The exhibition shows over 1500 postcard photo prints from Movana Chen’s ongoing projects “Travelling into your bookshelf” and “Knitting Conversations” as well as her recent solo exhibition “KNITerature”. The photographic installation occupies newly renovated spaces at Fringe Club. Meanwhile, the Upstairs theatre features the video of her latest work “Body Container comes to life” respectively in Hong Kong, London and Seoul which is a collaboration with a London based film maker, James Vyner from Ichikoo Films. The films document Movana’s performance interacting with people in three very different cities. “Wearing” one’s identity, the artist is eager to explore ways to experiment and to perform with the “Body Container”, expressing the concept of how the human form embodies ideas about our society.
