Synopsis

Opening Reception

Date: 18 Jun 2016

Time: 6pm

This exhibition ‘Changes’ brings together a new body of artwork created by Chris Cook over the last few years in Hong Kong. The work reflects how this vibrant, colourful, crowded, and noisy city continues to provide her with some of her inspiration combined with her own technically accomplished and vibrant painting style. She continues to work with a certain instability of colour, repeated yet unpredictable geometric shapes and a loosely structured grid format to create a combination of order, contradiction and flux in the work. The name of the exhibition ‘Changes’ reflects the unpredictable nature of colours and how the paintings change from moment to moment, with a life of their own from the moment they  were painted.
