Magician

Deborah Mannas is delighted to release her second Album, Magician!  Pulling from her fascination with human behaviour, her love of poetry and her crusading nature, Magician takes the listener on a journey ranging from romantic love and loss to a social commentary on greed, exclusion, lily-liveredness, and resilience.  

Deborah Mannas is a published poet and singer/songwriter who has produced a solo album of songs that she has written and performed in collaboration with Soul Sessions, a Hong Kong-based contemporary neo-soul band.  Her first album, the jazz-styled Deborah – Inspired!, was launched in May 2018 to a crowd of enthusiastic fans.  Since then she has been featured on RTHK Radio shows, and was the “persona” in the August/September 2018 issue of the Life On Lantau magazine.  In December 2018, The Asia Society Hong Kong held its first-ever musical event, with Deborah sharing her inspirations and performing her original music.  Deborah and Soul Sessions have also appeared on RTHK’s “The Works” program, showcasing the title song from her new album, Magician.

Deborah plays all over Hong Kong with her jazz band Syzygy, and also with Soul Sessions and The BandExpress, and more recently has performed and recorded original material with guitar maestro Robin Banerjee, Amy Winehouse’s ex-guitarist.  Her new album, Magician, is just released and will be played in this concert with the Soul Sessions.

Soul Sessions, expertly led by AgnesQ, is well known for its versatility and its crossover style of soul, funk and jazz.
