Deborah Mannas is a published poet and singer/songwriter who has produced a solo album of songs she has written and performed in collaboration with contemporary neo-soul band Hong Kong band Soul Sessions.  Her first album, the jazz-styled Deborah – Inspired!, was launched in May 2018 to a crowd of enthusiastic fans.  Since then she has been featured on RTHK Radio shows, and was the “persona” in the August/September 2018 issue of the Life On Lantau magazine.  In December 2018, The Asia Society Hong Kong held its first-ever musical event, with Deborah sharing her inspirations and performing her original music.

Deborah plays all over Hong Kong with her jazz band Syzygy, Soul Sessions and The BandExpress, and more recently has performed and recorded original material with guitar maestro Robin Banerjee, Amy Winehouse’s ex-guitarist.  Her second album, Magician, is due to be released in summer this year.

In this event, Deborah teams up with a superbly accomplished cast of creative musicians to deliver a combination of originals from Inspired and her upcoming album, Magician.

The acclaimed Agnes Q is Deborah’s music director and keyboardist, and a well-known operatic and soul vocalist and composer in her own right.  Agnes leads neo-Soul and funk band, the fabulous Soul Sessions, who backed Deborah – Inspired!.

Noah Matthews, bassist.  Noah has played with A-listers to audiences in the tens of thousands, won Ford’s “Gimme The Gig II” competition with Rachel and the Kings, and worked with the legendary producer Don Was.

Davide “Dado” Pasqualini, drummer/percussionist and composer.  Dado has been described as “a journeyman Italian musician... one of the most tasteful and inventive percussionists we have seen and heard”.

Leo Wong, guitarist.  Leo is an accomplished musician who has played with many artists in Hong Kong, including Dizzy Cream.  He is also a composer, an arranger, a recording & mixing engineer and the founder of Espresso Studio.

Angela Daphne Villanueva, flautist.  Daphne recently completed the Trinity College of London’s Flute Performance examination with distinction.  She is rapidly making her mark on the Hong Kong music scene with her superb style and inventive musicality.

Benjie Lontoc, alto saxophone.  Benjie has a great breadth and depth of international experience – he has played on cruise ships, has backed Ms. Francis Yip and is a member of Hong Kong Disneyland’s jazz hotel orchestra.
