Jon Shen is a talented singer-songwriter, keyboardist, arranger and producer in the genres of jazz fusion, gospel, funk, and soul R&B.  In 2017 he won the best Jazz (World Music Trophy) for his song, Pear Flower (夢醒梨花).  While he was living and studying music in Spain, he performed on various stages in Europe, and has worked with many famous musicians, including Patrice Rushen, Siedah Garrett and Marc Mangen.

The key characteristics of Jon’s style are on display in his new album, Sole Divinity - divine inspiration, fusing jazz, funk, soul, gospel and Afro-beat elements.  “It’s hard to define what style Jon’s songs exactly are... for many drummers, it will be the first time they’ve encountered that style,” said Jon’s recording drummer, Yan J. Boodhoo.  Also, the instruments and vocals feature  improvisation.

This album reveals Jon’s ideology about philosophy and values, including the love of people, the protection of culture and the environment, and a new, faith-filled life, granted by divine wisdom.  It also expresses his view that everything was created by the creator, and we are only the discoverers and combiners of these beautiful things, so the arrogance of people will be replaced by a respect for life and nature.

In this concert, Jon will perform some new songs from the album and some master soul-funk pieces, with the band JAZoove Mixtape, which he formed after he lived in Europe.  The band has played in Hong Kong, the UK and many cities in mainland China, and has performed in many TV shows, on radio interviews and at music festivals.
