My Queer Valentine

- a cabaret about finding a rainbow utopia

After four years and three sold-out seasons at the Hong Kong City Festival, 24 shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and five shows in the West End, London, HK-Australian cabaret sensation Rick Lau’s My Queer Valentine returns to the Fringe Club, promising to wow and inspire you once again in this musical celebration of, and homage to, the lives of the misfits.

The “love that dare not speak its name” is now the love that can’t shut the hell up!  Through songs by the likes of Cole Porter, Lorenz Hart, Jerry Herman, Kander & Ebb, Rufus Wainwright, Danny Chan and many more, and with the help of some lesbian seagulls on Noah’s Ark plus an army shower stall on Fire Island, My Queer Valentine shows how gays see themselves and the world we all share.

“A one man revolution” –

“A one-man tour de force... Lau’s haunting vocals and razor-sharp wit had the audience stomping for more” – The Australian

“Imbued with a hefty sense of emotion and playful wit” – Time Out Magazine

“Rick was simply awe-inspiring and uplifting. And he opened with a parody version of ‘The Boy from Ipanema’, which was about hats and a green bag. Marvelous. I laughed so hard I cried. My soul was cleansed. I especially liked his eight-minute-long extravaganza about lesbian seagulls on Noah’s Ark – absolutely filarious. Good art always touches upon religion. And animals.” – HK Magazine [Check the original quote: does it say filarious or hilarious? There’s no such word as “filarious” in English. Kay]
