Synopsis

ARtr-io (formerly X-Art) will again in a new immersive performance +phygital piece, use their own specially developed augmented-reality technologies to metaphysically and metaphorically 'reveal' the invisible 'fields offorce' and 'lines of flow' that connect Man and Nature. This time, we will co-create in collaboration with renowned Tai-chi Master and Calligrapher Henry Ho from Canada, who has through long years of study and practice, develped his own unique calligraphic form and technique. After thousands of years of distillation, Classical Chinese Brushwork is deeply imbued with the Eastern understanding of 'qi', the life-energy of the cosmos; while augmented-reality offers glimpses of other dimensions previously unseen; thus their unique pairing allowing for the Chinese Brush to explore and anticipate new artistic spaces. Integrating technologies developed by ARtr-io with Classical Chinese Brushwork, a dialogue between technology and tradition, science and spirituality, will reveal the 'one-ness' of the tangible and intangible. The intangibility of AR and the tangibility of Brush and Ink, will co-create an immersive experience of our expression of what Buddhists recognise as the Form and Void. This time ARtr-io and Henry Ho will work with the metaphor of the Horse, a welcoming of the coming Year of the Horse. In Buddhist thinking, the "galloping horse" represents the mind's restless energy, untamed 'qi' ; but through meditation and mindfulness, the Horse can be tamed and the "qi" calmed. So as the Horse gallops across many dimensions and multiple universes, we seek to follow its energies, harness and tame them, for our own expression, our experience, our enjoyment and our enlightenment.
We hope you will join us in this unique artistic experience. Technologies developed at the XRIM Lab@ISD, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology by ARtr-io.
