Synopsis
Fringe Club & Hong Kong Music Therapy Association present:
Music Therapy Experiential Workshop Series
This trilogy of Music Therapy workshops aims to allow participants to personally experience and witness the diverse scenarios that can occur in Music Therapy practice.
The series broadly covers the different levels of intervention used by Music Therapists: supportive, re-educative, and reconstructive. In the workshops, participants can experience how therapists adopt different levels of intervention to enhance people’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
1) Music Therapy Workshop: Rediscovering the Self
Grounded in music psychotherapy, the workshop allows participants to use voice and musical instruments to experience how music helps us reconnect our body (physical self), mind and soul (emotions). Within a depth psychology framework, the workshop provides a safe, non-judgmental space for participants to explore the connection between music and the subconscious, leading to the discovery of a more authentic self.

2) Music Therapy Workshop: Dialogue of the Soul and Melody
Participants begin with music listening, guided breathing and body relaxation exercises. It will be followed by group improvisation and creative expression methods using various instruments to express deeper feelings and relieve stress. The session also incorporates pre-composed songs for lyric-writing activities, helping participants express emotions through words and melody. The workshop aims to guide participants toward a relaxed state through music, while fostering self-awareness, connection to inner emotions, and self-care.

3) Music Therapy Songwriting Experiential Workshop
Participants will have the opportunity to listen to original songs co-created by Music Therapists and their clients, experiencing the stories that emerge in music therapy. Therapists will also guide participants to experience the process of therapeutic songwriting, allowing everybody to enjoy the fun and healing power of creative music-making.
